A skill set called leadership

Leadership can be defined as, "the process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task."

Some very inspiring leaders  have lived and are still living in our times. My favourite would obviously have to be ex-president Nelson Mandela. Not only for the things he has done for South Africa, but also for his leadership style. The best kind of leader is one who leads by example and he has done exactly that.

Leadership to me can also be defined as the process of using ones own skills to inspire the people around you to follow. Often, the leader isn't the person who outright gives orders to the rest of the group according to what they think should be done within the group. We see this almost every week on 'Survivor'. The person who acts like this is voted out very soon in the game. Its the person who uses their physical and mental skills to get further in the game that eventually survives. This is a leader according to me. If everyone followed this one person, they'd also be surviving for quite a while.

In the end the skills set called leadership can be defined differently by each person, mostly because most people are leaders, but just don't see that they can be.
