What makes a good person?

We contribute 67 minutes or so to help those less fortunate than ourselves. We give a slice of bread or a R2 to the man who begs on the street or knocks on our door. We go to church or pray for our family, friends and ourselves. We are good people right?

We look down on the man in prison because he has done wrong. We judge our neighbour’s and gossip about them when they aren’t near. We think we are better than the man on the street and wonder what bad things he has done to end up there. We are good people right?

We are human and we make mistakes. We do and say bad things and hurt each other. Are we still good people? I think so. I think that there are no bad people only people who do bad things. Try to make your “bad” less each day by thinking about the bad things you do each day and turning it into a good thing. It may be something simple like spending time with your mother or paying the old lady across the road a visit because she’s lonely.

I tried this today and will hopefully do it again tomorrow, the next day and the day after that.
