South African fashion brands - do you support them?

You're getting ready to go out and have to think of what you can wear. Your cupboard is a mess, yet you manage to pull out that Levi jeans and a brand new baby phat top. A pair of Jimmy Choos catches your eye, which you quickly slip on and then add a quick dab of DKNY so you can smell good.

Most of us aspire to earn enough money to afford these luxuries. Americans are wearing them so they must be the best thing since Michael Jackson, right? WRONG.

South Africa and even Cape Town is original and unique, so why should the population follow the rest of the world? We have the ability to start our own trends and design quality clothes that are cheap, yet stylish.

There are boutique stores in South Africa, but many of us don't buy their clothing, as they are way too expensive. It is for this reason that a new store will be opening in Cape Town . Quality designer wear at low prices. Think YDE, but better and without big business taking over it and making prices ridiculously expensive.

Designers struggle to get their clothing noticed. This store is a chance for designers to showcase their talent and for young people all over Cape Town to look fabulous and original.

Watch this space. If you would like to know more, keep following this blog, or if you're a designer, e-mail me at megan@dkc.co.za and I'll make sure that the owner of the best thing to happen to Cape Town since the World Cup gets your message!
